Initially, each child was seen by the physician (IN), who performed neurological and physical assessments and evaluated facial features for dysmorphology. Dysmorphology was scored on a three-point scale ranging from 1 (absence) to 3 (highly present).

Demographic information was obtained from questionnaires completed by caregivers. Socioeconomic status was determined using the Hollingshead Four Factor Inventory , which is based on the educational and occupational levels of both parents. Where applicable, the socioeconomic status score was based on the foster or adoptive family with whom the child was residing at the time of testing. An abbreviated measure of intelligence using the revised Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale was also administered to those caregivers willing to participate.

Tests and measures

Each child was administered a comprehensive battery of age-appropriate neuropsychological tests. These included standardized tests of intelligence, language, memory, attention, academic, visuospatial, visuomotor and socioemotion-al functioning. buy ortho tri-cyclen
